FROM JEN & SCOTT...
"We would, and do, recommend Tuxedo Preschool to everyone we talk to. Our boys (now 3 & 4), both attended since 2 years of age. We tried other facilities before tuxedo and it was heartbreaking. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, our oldest would start crying. However, on day one at Tuxedo Preschool it was different. He was happy. He didn't want to come home. He was excited to go "to school". I feel as though the teachers at Tuxedo Preschool truly care about my children like they are their own. On top of all the learning opportunities they provided, the school also gave them numerous outings we wouldn't have otherwise thought of exploring. The only tears shed about Tuxedo Preschool, are from my oldest because he's finished there and trying to adjust to the fact there's a new chapter among us."

The 3's program is taught by Christina Tompkins, a qualified Early Childhood Educator, who has been working at the Tuxedo Preschool for many years. The preschool experience is enjoyed in a bright spacious building with a maximum 20 children and three adults. These adults include Christina, her assisting teacher Liz and one Parent Volunteer. The Preschool welcomes Parent involvement through its daily sign up requests for these volunteers. The children attend each Tuesday and Thursday in either the morning or the afternoon for a two hour session for a 34 week period. Christina has a warm, caring approach with the children that help them feel comfortable in the program. She offers some teacher directed activities as well as opportunity for child directed activities. This type of balanced program fosters the development of the whole child. Children need to mature and grow in all areas of development social/emotional, physical, cognitive/intellectual, and language. The teacher directed activities take place during group time, craft time, story time, etc. They can be theme based or child inspired. They provide the children with opportunity to learn concepts, gain knowledge, explore items, practice motor skills, practice listening skills, etc. During child directed play times children are free to make their own choices. The environment is set up to enhance the natural curiosity and imagination of children. It has centres filled with age appropriate toys and equipment for the children to explore. These free play times also provide Christina and Liz with an opportunity to observe children to find out what their interests are. The teachers believe in the individual uniqueness of children and the importance of building confidence and self esteem. Planning activities that are based on the interests of the children is a respectful way of doing so. It also makes learning more fun! When the weather is suitable, the class enjoys some outdoor playtime in the fenced yard. Occasionally the class will utilize the lower level as a change of location for more large muscle activities.
Your child must be three by the end of the registration year. Children must be in the process of toilet training..
